Since I mostly finished my annotated bibliography last class, I worked on building my timeline. I found a good website that uses Google Slides to make an interactive timeline. I began inputting the sources and information I have so far and finding new pictures to accompany each part of the timeline. It took me a while to get the hang of using the tool, so I spend some time playing around with it and figuring out how it worked.

9/1- This Machine Kills Fascists

I began preliminary research on my thesis topic- analyzing the relationship between music and politics decade by decade from the 1940s to the present day. I began by searching music websites such as Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, and NPR to find articles and editorials that might be of interest to me, as well as to find writers who I could possibly reach out to and contact for mentorship. I found several articles about modern protest music that I can use to discuss current day music and politics. I then started drafting a timeline beginning with the impact of Woody Guthrie and the emergence of protest music in the 1950s. 9/12- American Supplements

I started work on my supplemental essays for the American University PPL scholars program. I'm extremely excited about this program because it is the best one I have found for the career I want- campaign work. It is selective, but hopefully I can prove myself with my essays.

Now that our book is in the final stages, Ellie and I have been working on getting judges, working on the paper, and the final presentation. There's not much to say about today, as I spent the whole period outlining the paper. I want to discuss our development process, the challenges we faced when coming up with ideas and illustrating, and the message/impact we want our book to have on the kids reading it. These are also the ideas I hope to hit in the presentation.
