9/26

I continued work on my timeline and began researching 1960s political protest music. I delved into Bob Dylan's discography and intend to focus on his music for a good portion of my research. I also began researching some web design, to figure out how to create an online timeline to supplement my research.

9/12- American Supplements

I started work on my supplemental essays for the American University PPL scholars program. I'm extremely excited about this program because it is the best one I have found for the career I want- campaign work. It is selective, but hopefully I can prove myself with my essays.

9/8- Timeline

Today, I spent half the class going through a music journal about music and politics and noted the papers that are relevant to my topic. I then continued working on my timeline, beginning with the 1960s.

Today, I connected my Naviance and CommonApp accounts and then continued working on the Coalition application. I filled in my extracurriculars and then began working on the questions for individual schools. I also began work on my UT Austin short answer questions.

I found several articles about modern protest music that I can use to discuss current day music and politics. I then started drafting a timeline beginning with the impact of Woody Guthrie and the emergence of protest music in the 1950s. I focused on the history of the song, "This Land is Your Land," and its significance as one of the earliest, most well known protest songs.
